If your pet has a problem during surgery hours, please telephone us immediately
and we will ensure that you are offered an emergency appointment. Please make it
clear that the matter is not routine and we will do our very best to see you at
the earliest opportunity.

For many years, MacDonald Veterinary Clinic has shared out of hours duties with three other
practices in Cheltenham. Due to a very long working week and the introduction of
new European regulations we, as a group, have decided to subscribe to an
independent & professional emergency clinic that has been established at the
Cheltenham Racecourse. This clinic is called Chelvet. Please note that Chelvet
only deals with emergencies from the Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury areas
and is not able to provide routine veterinary services.
We believe that this service should be able to offer our clients a very high
quality emergency service from people who are trained in critical care and,
importantly, who will be awake all night! There is also the provision for
round-the-clock monitoring of any pets that have to be hospitalised. Any pets
that are hospitalised overnight will be brought back to the surgery at the first
opportunity in the morning. All notes will be faxed to us before morning
surgery.
This service is operational 365 days a year from 7 pm to 8.30 am during the
week, from 1 pm Saturdays to 8.30 am Monday morning over the weekend & all
day/night on bank holidays. Chelvet is not open during the day on normal working
days. The service started in September 2004. When you telephone MacDonald
Veterinary Clinic out of hours, you will be diverted automatically to Chelvet:
01242 522022. Your call will be answered directly
by a vet or nurse. Any bills are to be settled at the time of treatment and
directly with Chelvet.
